FACE OFF MULTICULTURAL DANCE PROJECT 2004

The diversity of dance forms has been an important element in introducing cultural art to the dance experience. Face–Off Multi Cultural dance project explored not only music and dance, but also culture and history. Face-Off created an event that reflects the diversity of contemporary art practice, encouraging new and emerging dancers to showcase their work in a professional and supportive environment.

Face-Off 2004 was dynamically authentic and exciting.  Face-Off featured some of the most innovative and creative dancers and dance groups yet to be seen.  Supporting groups like Simply the Best, Group 730, The Clyde Bailey Contemporary Dance Theatre, Sygnature, Lynx, Suspense crew,

& fresh Kids. The event honored the African, American and Caribbean tradition while keeping dance alive.  It also served as an opportunity for people of all cultures to join together.

Face-Off was not only involved in creating projects, but also involved in choreographing performances for numerous concerts. Face-Off lead crew performed at the Reggae Fest 2003- 2004, the Westchester Fest 2004, The Miss USA Dance Hall Queen 2004 and the Crazy Riddim Compilation Album release.

Not just performing at big exciting events, Face-Off also took time out to serve the community.  Face-Off contributed a dynamic performance for Aids week at the Montefiore Medical Hospital

Mission Statement

The organization exposes young people to the process of artistic collaboration, and encourages them to broaden their vision of dance, the visual arts, and their own potential.  We aim to build collaborative and risk-taking skills, and foster self-empowerment.
